Generators
Generators are devices that convert mechanical energy into electrical power to be used for external sources. They can be used for a range of settings, including DIY and construction work, due to their vast range of benefits and key features.
Key FeaturesTypical generators have 6 key features. First, they are portable. This means you can take them with you on camping trips without taking up too much space. Second, they have a carbon monoxide (CO) shutoff. When generators burn fuel to create power, this in turn creates CO as a by-product, which is highly toxic. So, when the CO reaches high levels, the generator shuts down automatically, keeping those around it safe.
Third, it can have an automatic start. Rather than a cord or a button, some can be linked up and turn on automatically, depending on when power is needed. Fourth, they have outlets that you can attach various devices to for them to be charged or operated.
Fifth, they have an inverter, which allows a DC current to be used for more sensitive devices such as a laptop. This prevents them from being damaged by the typical AC current. Finally, they come equipped with user friendly displays, allowing you to monitor fuel levels in the generator.
Types of Generators
Although portable generators can be used in the most settings, you can also find other types such as whole house generators, inverter generators, petrol generators, diesel generators, solar generators and natural gas generators.
